Publishing rules for the Media section
Last updated: 23 September 2026
Media is the part of the Life Index app where practitioners and thoughtful people share what works: videos, podcasts, photos and articles organised by life sphere. Every App user can read the feed, so publishing comes with rules. These rules form part of our Terms of Use, and we ask you to accept them in the App before your first post. By sending a post for review you confirm that you have read them and that you are responsible for what you publish.
1. Who can publish
Any registered App user aged 16 or over can publish. No subscription is needed — you simply pay for placement once your post has been approved. Publish as yourself: the author name comes from your profile, and you may not impersonate another person or organisation. If you post on behalf of a company, you must be authorised to do so.
2. What you can publish
Substance over noise: personal experience, a method, a breakdown, a practice — something a reader can use in one of their life spheres. Formats: text, a photo up to 10 MB, video up to 5 minutes and 500 MB, a podcast up to 60 minutes and 100 MB. Title up to 120 characters, text up to 5,000 characters, up to 5 links. Choose the spheres the post belongs to and the language it is made in — readers filter the feed by both. Links and the “Expert contacts” block are available on the plan with contacts and should lead to your own website or social-media pages; direct links to checkout pages or course sales are not accepted.
3. What we do not publish
A moderator will reject a post or comment — and we will take down a published one — if it contains:
- anything unlawful, including extremist material, promotion of drugs or incitement to violence;
- insults, bullying, threats or hatred against any group;
- pornography or sexualised content, graphic violence or cruelty, shock content;
- scams, pyramid schemes, “guaranteed income”, get-rich-quick offers, phishing or malicious links;
- medical claims: “treatment” instead of a doctor, promises of a cure, advice to abandon prescribed therapy, sale of medicines or supplements;
- sale or promotion of prohibited goods and services;
- other people’s work used without permission — video, music, photos, text, trademarks;
- personal data or images of third parties without their consent, including private messages and health information;
- content involving minors in an inappropriate context, or encouragement of self-harm;
- spam, repeated posting of the same material, hidden advertising disguised as personal experience, impersonation.
The list is not exhaustive: we reserve the right to decline a post that does not fit the spirit of Life Index — respect for the reader and their choices.
4. Rights to your post and the licence you grant
By publishing, you confirm that the rights to the post are yours or that you have the rights holder’s permission — that includes music in a video and stock photos. We do not check or confirm authorship: using someone else’s work without permission is the author’s responsibility under the law. If a rights holder contacts us, the post is taken down and settling the claim remains with the author. You keep the rights to your post. By publishing, you grant Life Index, and the companies in our group that operate the service, a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to: show the post to all App users and on its page at life-index.com (title, cover image, author name, short excerpt), including in link previews when it is shared; store, back up and technically process it — transcode video and audio, generate cover images and thumbnails; and review it for moderation. The licence lasts while the post is published and ends when you delete it; backups and the moderation log are kept for the periods stated in the Privacy Policy. We do not use your posts in our own advertising without your consent and do not use them to train third-party AI models.
5. Advertising and labelling
Hidden advertising — recommending products or services as personal experience without disclosure — is not allowed. Where a post with contacts and links is addressed to users in Russia, Russian advertising law treats it as advertising: it is published with an “Ad” label and an erid identifier, which the platform operator obtains and reports to the state advertising register. We may ask you for the details that registration requires (such as the advertiser’s legal name and tax number), and you agree to provide accurate information.
6. Review
A moderator reads every post before it goes live — usually you hear back within 24 hours. Review is free. If your post is rejected you will see the reason in My posts, and you can fix and resend it as many times as you like. A post under review is visible only to you. Until a decision is made you can withdraw it, and it returns to your drafts.
7. Prices and payment
Placement is paid once, and only after approval — nothing is charged before that. Plans: $18 for a post without contacts (likes, comments, sharing and view statistics included); $28 for the same plus the “Expert contacts” block and links. Once approved, a payment button appears in My posts, and the purchase goes through the App Store or Google Play as a one-time in-app purchase. (In Russia payment goes through the YooKassa service, in the App on Android or via a link we send by email.) After the payment is confirmed the post goes live automatically. Approval does not expire: an unpaid post waits in My posts, and we will remind you by email.
8. Lifting in the feed
The feed is ordered by date: newer posts go on top, so yours drifts down over time. You can lift a published post back to the top for $1 — instantly, without another review, but at most once every 24 hours. There is no pinning: the next new post will appear above yours again.
9. Edits, deletion and refunds
You can edit a published post free of charge; the edit goes through review again, and the feed shows the previous version until it is approved. You can delete your post at any time — it cannot be restored, and readers who saved it to “Bookmarks” will see a “Removed by the author” card. Placement and lifts are one-time services performed at the moment of publication: if you delete the post, or if we take it down for breaking the rules, the fee is not refunded. If a post did not go live because of a fault on our side or a technical error, write to support — we will publish it or refund you. Refunds for App Store and Google Play purchases are requested from the store under its policies; payments made through YooKassa are refunded through our support.
10. Comments
Anyone can read comments. Writing them requires active access to the App’s paid features (a subscription, a promo code or a trial period); the author of a post can always reply in their own thread. Comments and replies appear immediately, without prior review. The text passes an automatic filter: if it contains a word from the blocked list, the comment is not sent and you are asked to rewrite it. The same goes for links: website, messenger and email addresses are not allowed in comments — authors put their contacts in the post itself. A published comment is reviewed by a moderator when someone reports it, and may be hidden or rejected; a rejected comment is visible only to its author. Comments follow the same rules as posts. You can delete your own comment.
11. Reports and blocking
If a post or comment breaks these rules, tap “⋯” on the post screen or “Report” under the comment, pick a reason and, if you wish, tell us what bothered you. The post is hidden from the feed immediately, and a moderator decides within 24 hours. In the same place you can block the author: their posts and comments will no longer be shown to you, nothing changes for other readers, and you can undo this in Settings. Authors are not told who reported them. If you do not have the App to hand, email support@life-index.com with a link to the post.
12. Responsibility
The author is responsible for the content of each post and comment. Life Index is a platform: we review posts before they go live and comments when they are reported, but we do not endorse the advice they contain, verify authorship or authors’ qualifications, or accept liability for the consequences of following that advice. Media content is not a substitute for advice from a doctor, therapist, lawyer or financial professional. We may remove any post or comment that breaks these rules, the law or the requirements of the app stores, and for repeated or serious breaches we may suspend your ability to publish and comment, or close your account.
13. Changes to these rules
These rules may change. A new version is published on this page with its “Last updated” date, and we will ask you to accept it in the App before your next post. Posts that are already published stay in the feed; you only need to accept the new version before publishing again.
